Since I decided to do a Wordless Wednesday picture I am now going to do a Friday Flashback. This is when you choose pictures from years before. I have decided to post the referral pictures that we received of both kids. Nick’s full body picture cracks me up because he has always been skinny but he is bundled up so much he looks like a little sumo wrestler. Allie picture really shows her personality and we fell in love with that smile the first time we saw it.
The weather has actually been nice enough lately that we have been able to go outside. I knew last fall that we had not cleaned up the yard like we should have but didn’t realize it was as bad as it is. Hopefully I will be able to get outside soon and start cleaning it up. Nick has been able to enjoy some of the gifts he got for Christmas. Allison has been working on potty training which I never thought she would have any interest in and is doing a really good job. She decided last week that she could wear underwear during the day. She has had just a few accidents and always tells me when she is wearing underwear that she needs to use the bathroom. If she is in a pull-up she still forgets to tell me so I try to keep her in underwear as much as possible.
I had forgotten how many birthday parties we have in the month of January and February. We have been to one every weekend since January 10th and have one every weekend through February. Allison’s 3rd birthday is going to be this weekend and she is very excited. Last year she didn’t even understand what a birthday really was and even though we had a party for her we kept it pretty low key. This year she is talking about it all the time and can’t wait to blow out her candles and have everyone sing Happy Birthday to her. I will finally get a picture of her eating cake last year she wouldn’t touch it and I didn’t want to push it and now occasionally she will take a bite. Here are some pictures of the kids enjoying their cousin Grace’s 3rd Birthday she had a Tinker Bell party and so Allie got to dress up like Tinker Bell. For some reason I didn’t get any pictures at the other 2 parties we have been too.
I need to update the blog again but don't know if I will have time this morning but wanted to give this a try. I have promised Allie that we will try to go roller skating this morning. Wish us luck. On some blogs that I frequent as well as blogs all over the world, the bloggers do something called "Wordless Wednesday." On Wednesday of each week they post a photograph with no words to explain it, the idea being that the photo itself says so much that it doesn't need any description. I have decided that this week I will give it a try.

Things are slowly becoming back to normal now that Christmas is over. Nick is back in school now and Allison started a new art class yesterday but is really missing Santa and can’t wait for it to be Christmas again.
Allison has been busy enjoying all of her new Christmas toys and is exploring her independence especially choosing her own clothes. She comes up with some interesting outfits. Her new favorite thing right now is trying to flush things down the toilet and dumping everything in the pet’s water dish. I am going to have to try to find some water activities for her maybe I can move the water table inside the house for awhile. I can’t wait until it is summer and she can play in the water outside again.
Some of Allison's favorite outfits.
Princess Aurora
Enjoying some Christmas toys.
On Saturday we took Nick to OMSI because they where having a Lego contest. They were having the kids put Lego’s together to make a 4 ft R2D2. They also had kid Lego Clubs that were showing what they had made out of Lego’s. Washington Square has a Lego store and we signed him up to join a Lego Club that they have at the store. At the end of the month he gets to go and build something at the store and I think he gets a free t-shirt. He seems pretty excited about it. He also tried out to be in his school play on Friday it will be a Charleston play. He found out yesterday that he made it and so he will be also busy with that.
On Sunday we went bowling for Megan’s Birthday she was turning 7. It was a lot of fun. We don’t get to spend enough time with Cindy and Stephanie and their families and so it was nice to visit with everyone. Nick really enjoyed bowling and they had a ramp that Allison could roll the ball down and one time she even got a strike.
So far this feels likes it has been a very busy year or at least I am getting things accomplished. Allison got to see her first movie in the theater today. Scott and I took her and Nick to see the new Chipmunk movie. I wasn’t sure how she was going to do because except for Barney and occasionally Dora she doesn’t care to watch TV very much but we thought we would give it a chance. She was quiet and sat through the whole movie eating her popcorn and M&M’s. It was a short movie and had a lot of singing in it so I think that helped keep her attention. I hope this summer she will be ready to go see some of the free summer movies with Nick and I. Christmas is also almost officially over at our house we took down the tree and a lot of the other decorations today. The living room is looking back to normal now we just need to get the rest of the house put away and find room for all of the new toys.
GO Ducks!!! Nick has decided that he is a Ducks fan. Which is funny because Scott and I are more Beaver Fans than Ducks but we are letting him believe we are Ducks. He was so excited that they were playing in the Rose Bowl today and has been talking about it all week. He was okay with the loss though I don’t think he ever really got into the game today he just really wanted them to win.
Happy New Year!! The kids celebrated the New Year by going to the Children’s Museum yesterday and ringing it in at 12:00 noon. I may just have them celebrate at home next year. It was really crowded and I would be able to do more crafts at home by the time we got to were they where making them they were all out but they still had fun at the countdown. We went out to dinner with my Mom and brothers and than went home and celebrated at 8:00. Allison went to bed and we gave Nick the option of trying to stay up to 12:00 if he wanted to. He actually made it but was very tired. We had fun playing bingo and watching the countdown to New Years. I think it was kind of disappointing to him I remember as a kid trying so hard to stay awake and than when you actually do you realize that it wasn’t as much fun as you thought it would be but he can say that he did it I know I was a lot older than 6 years old.
