Camping Inside

Saturday night we set up a tent in the family room. Nick and Scott spent the night in it. He thought it was pretty fun and enjoyed building with his Lego’s in it. We will have to definitely try it again some time. That is why it has taken me awhile to update the blog. We have been a little busy. With Easter being next weekend I am sure I will have a bunch more to post soon.

Super Hero Day

Saturday was Super Hero Day at the Children’s Museum. They had capes and mask the kids could make. Neither Nick or Allie are really into Super Hero but making the cape was a lot of fun. They also had the Star Wars characters there and Batman and Batgirl. Nick still really isn’t into Star Wars but was able to tell us all about the characters and the movie on the way home and so he must know a lot more than I think he does. Allie did not like the Storm troopers at all. When we left they were outside which really scared her because she thought they could get her than since they were outside but so far we have not had any nightmares about Storm troopers and I don’t think she mentioned it today at all.

Can you guess?

Can you guess what is going to happen at our house in the next month? He is so excited.

Easter Crafts

We have also tried to do some Easter Crafts this week. Nick had seen some were recently a crayon toy that melts crayons to make new crayons. Well I looked for it but could not find it and so I thought maybe we could make our own by peeling the paper off crayons and putting them in silicone molds. I probably should have baked it a little bit longer but think it turned out pretty well and Nick had a lot of fun making them. Here is the directions on how to make them:

Peel a bunch of crayons you can use the old broken ones if you want. Break them into small pieces, put the pieces in some silcone baking cups, and put the cups on a cookie sheet. Bake at 250 for about 10 minutes. Cool until hard, pop them out of the molds, and you have fun shaped multicolored crayons. Note, don’t overcook tem or your crayons will get too liquid and all the colors will run together and make brown. I was afraid of them doing this and probably should have cooked them maybe 12 minutes.

We also made Easter Buckets for the Easter egg hunt next weekend. We had the kids cousins come over to make them too. Everyone had a lot of fun and we are ready for the egg hunt. I hope it does not rain.

We also made some bunny’s and chicks out of paper plates and our in the process of making another craft that Nick thought was cool and Allie did not like so much because she had to put her hands in paint and there was no way she was going to do that.

A Day at the Park

On Wednesday the weather was nice again and so I took the kids to the park to play for a little bit. Allie has no fear at all and tries her best to keep up with her brother. I have to really keep an eye on her because she thinks she can do everything he does. She is a good climber though.

Seattle

After OMSI we left for Seattle it was a very busy 3 days. Both kids did a pretty good job on the car ride up to Seattle. We had put the portable DVD player and the car and Allie thought that was very cool I don’t think we have ever used it before with her.

Our first stop was the Rainforest Café. We ate there when we went to Disneyland but it was fun to go there again. Nick really enjoyed it I think he really enjoyed the whole trip. Allie was really tired at this point because she would not nap in the car but still thought the thunder and lightning and all the animals was pretty cool. It was pretty expensive and not a restaurant we would regularly go to but the atmosphere was fun.

The hotel we stayed at was right in the middle of Seattle which made it really easy to get to everything. The first evening we got there we took the kids to the swimming pool. Allie enjoyed the pool and splashing her Dad who was a good sport because he still was really sick. Nick liked the hot tub better than the pool.

The next morning we had breakfast at the hotel and than went to Pike’s Market. The weather was absolutely beautiful which I am so thankful for because it was raining hard on our way up to Seattle. We saw the throwing of the fish, ate apples that tasted like grapes, did a lot of sight seeing and had lunch. We then rode on the carousal which was Allie’s favorite part of the trip.

We went back to the hotel hoping Allie would take a nap which she did not. In the afternoon we went to the Space Needle. There were a bunch of rides around the Space Needle that we let the kids ride on and than we found the Children’s Museum and spent some time in there. After that we finally went to the Space Needle which Nick really enjoyed. Allie was too tired and not having her best day but we all survived it. After that I think we were all so tired that we went back to the hotel and had Subway for dinner and went to bed or at least the kids and Scott did. I stayed up and watched Dancing With the Stars.

Nick says that it was the best trip ever and that Seattle rocks. Allie liked the carousal and the apple that tasted like a grape and that they gave her free fruit and vegtables to try at Pike’s Market. Scott is just happy to be finally feeling a little bit better.
