Gung Hay Fat Choy! A little late

Happy Chinese New Year. This is the year of the rabbit. For Chinese New Year this year we went to the convention center to celebrate. Thank you Brian Melinda and Chloe for joining us. It was so much fun seeing you this weekend and we will have to plan something again soon. Allie and Nick had a lot of fun on the jumpy houses and Allie was not afraid of the dragons like she was last year.

Groundhog's Day

We had taken Allie to Barnes and Nobel on her birthday they had just finished their story time and had a few crafts left over and offered Allie one. It was a Groundhog's craft and when we got home she wanted to do it and take it outside to see if it saw it's shadow. It did see it's shadow but we are still hoping for a early spring anyway.

Grandparents Day and Student of the week

Last week was a very busy week at Nick’s school also. It was spirit week and so he got to dress up almost every day for school. I was just not really into it this year so I didn’t take any pictures. His favorite dress up day was pajama day. He got to wear his sweats and sweatshirt to school.
This week was also Grandparents Day and so Grandma got to go to school with Nick he had been talking about it for over a month and was so excited about it. It sounds like they both had a great time and he was very excited that Grandma bought him three books at the book fair.
He was also Student of the Week this week and so we had to buy crickets from the pet store for the class pets. Then color and fill out a poster about him and write a letter.
On Friday we had dinner with his Cub Scouts troop which was really nice. I didn’t have to make dinner. They had the parents paint the kids faces and Nick thought that was a lot of fun. He also earned a couple more badges that he received.

I will post the letter that I wrote to him for Student of the Week:

Nick was very excited to be picked to be student of the week. Nick is a really awesome kid and we are very lucky to be his parents. Nick has always been a very happy boy and always has a smile on his face. Even as a baby we could tell how special he was. Nick loves to learn new things and share about what he has learned.

Nick has a lot of hobbies. He really enjoys playing his DSI and with Lego’s. When he grows up, he wants to design racecars. When he is outside, he likes to ride his scooter and green machine. He plays soccer and baseball and really enjoyed his soccer season this year. His soccer coach gave him a special Trophy for his hard work and dedication. He has an orange belt in Aikido and working toward his orange belt with a stripe. Nick has also been taking piano lessons for two years. He is a Wolf in Cub Scouts and likes the activities that they do like making paper airplanes and going on hikes. He is looking forward to the Pinewood Derby.

Nick enjoys school and likes to play with his friends. His favorite subjects in school are Math and Art. There is nothing about school that Nick does not like.

Nick enjoys spending time with his Dad. Their favorite thing to do together is family game night and to play the Wii. He also likes it when his Dad and Uncles watch football with him or take him camping. Nick’s favorite football team is the Oregon Ducks.

Nick likes to do puzzles with his Mom. He also likes to help her bake cakes and do crafts together.

Nick became a big brother in 2008 and has one sister named Allison who is 4 years old. He likes to play games with her and teach her new things. His favorite thing to play with his sister is trains and cars. He has learned that it is hard to be a big brother and you have to have a lot of patients, but he loves her very much and she is his best friend.

Nick has a black Poodle named Bella and he enjoys playing chase with her.

We love you very much Nick and are so proud of you.

Happy Birthday Allie

I had wanted to post on Allie’s Birthday but forgot and so I will do it now that her celebrating is all over. Allie is officially 4 years old. We celebrated her last party yesterday at McDonalds. I was not sure how that was going to go and it went really well. I would highly recommend having a Birthday party at McDonalds. The price is reasonable and they were very helpful. She chose to have a Princess Party for her family party and a Mickey and Minnie Party for her friends party. Scott had taken the day of her birthday off work and we had planned on going to the Zoo but it was just too cold outside and so we went to the preschool time at the swimming pool instead. We had never been before and she had a blast and keeps asking to go swimming again.
Allie has grown up so much this year. I loved 3 years old for both of my kids. They learn so much at this age and go from being toddlers to preschoolers. Her highlights of the year have been going to Disneyland, becoming completely potty trained which I was worried would never happen and going to preschool and making new friends.
Happy Birthday to my sweet spunky 4 year old. You have grown up so much this last year. I can’t wait to see what 4 years old brings you.
